Her bust is for justice: Wonder Woman returns!

Wonder Woman has always been Busts 4 Justice’s mascot and lucky charm – it was she that first caught the eye of journalist and B4J’s first champion Rosamund Urwin – so we were pretty excited to hear she and her iconic costume were being revived for a new generation.

However, though the new costume addresses what on the high street would be classed as a ‘tits and legs out’ faux pas, Adrianne Palicki looks less formidable (and less classy) than Lynda Carter did in her star spangled hot pants.  Palicki looks as if the new Wonder Woman outfit is wearing her, like a girl relentlessly tugging her skirt hem down over bare legs in a club, or those uncomfortable looking women who model cheap fancy dress costumes…  So far no good.  It goes to show that strength comes from within, and self-confidence is more important than stomach crunches in making an outfit work.  Perhaps she’ll be more convincing on screen. Though I’m not sure about this Wonder Woman so far, trousers have got to be more practical than high-waisted hot pants when it comes to high-kicking the bad guys…

Most importantly, Wonder Woman’s bust for justice still looks phenomenal and we can only marvel at her superhuman ability to stay in that thing.  Palicki appears to defy at least three basic laws of physics in her costume. Ah, the miracle of television…

Boohoo Avenue

Boux Avenue launched properly today, with the Glasgow shop and the website opening for business.  We were more than a little bit excited: the teaser photos on Twitter and Facebook had been beautiful, the launch party looked spectacular, and Boux Avenue had tweeted at @Busts4Justice to reassure us that “our bras start at 30 – in ranges to cater to all ages and styles…”

So we were more than a little bit disappointed to discover that this was a teeny bit misleading.  While they do boast a wide range of beautiful vintage inspired styles, the G ranges are limited and more functional than fabulous.  And let’s face it: functional bras are one thing G ranges are not lacking in: we want what they’re not offering us.

All is not lost though. F cups are fractionally better served (though the two prettiest options – above – only start at a 32″ back *sigh*),  and Boux Avenue have tweeted today to say that they’ll be expanding their ranges and sizes all the time.  For now though, we’ll just have to watch and hope…

Boobs out in force for National Cleavage Day

Very brilliant boob health champions CoppaFeel! stormed London today to remind us to all to get a good feel of our boobies and help defend ourselves against late detection of breast cancer.

The BoobTube was out in force on the tube and around Oxford Circus, bewildering commuters, trending on Twitter, and spreading the CoppaFeel! message to all.  We love the pictures, and we love Kris and her team for their important work.

Happy National Cleavage Day from Busts 4 Justice! Now go give that cleavage some squeezage…

Panache Love the Fit

Boob champions Panache are to run a nationwide fit campaign alongside their AW collections this year, encouraging and educating women to get the best fit for their figures.  Panache join a whole wave of brands investing in fit education, joining Freya’s ‘Bra Doctor’ and Bravissimo’s advice hotline in a quest to empower women to seek out better than the high street’s hopelessly inadequate +4 method can offer.

John Power, Panache’s MD and Chairman, once told me that “you could spend all your time and money making the perfect bra, but if the woman wears it in the wrong size you might as well not have bothered”.  I’m delighted that Panache’s passion for fit is being channelled in to a widespread and hopefully far reaching campaign.

Brand support is key to bringing down the shocking percentage of women wearing the wrong bra size.  By taking control of the way their products are fitted and by educating their consumers to recognise a good fit for themselves, brands have a real power to improve things for women whilst ensuring that their products are used and loved to their full potential.

And for the rest of us, this can only lead to an improvement in the availability of bras in sizes commonly pushed out by the plus four method.  The sooner women get fitted correctly, the sooner the tyranny of the 34B can be ended.

So Panache, we salute you.  And we’ll help by grabbing our unfitted girlfriends, sisters, mothers and others and helping them love their fit too.  Together we can change the world, two boobs at a time…
