I HEART BOOBIES.

…and so does almost everyone else.  American charity Keep A Breast Foundation have come up with a brilliant campaign to promote breast cancer awareness in young people: the I HEART BOOBIES  wristband.  It’s doing a brilliant job of getting people – especially young people – to talk and think about breast cancer, not least because it’s upsetting schools and parents.  Which only makes Busts 4 Justice want one more…

Stop breast ironing

Absolutely horrified to read about the widespread practice of ‘breast ironing’ in Cameroon: where the developing breasts of young girls are burned and manipulated in an appallingly misguided attempt to combat teenage pregnancies and rapes.  Breasts are left permanently damaged, often scarred and malformed, with a high risk of abscesses, cysts and possibly even breast cancer. It is estimated that one in four girls are subjected to the practice, with that figure rising to more than half in some regions.

Only one organisation – the Association of Aunties (RENATA) – is speaking out; campaigning and providing education in an attempt to protect women from breast ironing.  I’ve e-mailed them to offer our support in any way they can think of.  But in the meantime, perhaps we could all e-mail our local MPs and ask them how our Parliament could offer its support to ensure that this practice is stopped for good.

New Zealand Girl Guides world record attempt.

Busts 4 Justice love a bit of boob related activism (Baptivism? No?), and were very excited to discover the New Zealand Girl Guides’ brilliant campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer by creating the world’s longest chain of bras.

They need to get 200,000 bras by November to break their record.  They’re currently at 14,519 so, if you’re local, you can get involved by donating your unwanted lingerie or nagging your local bra retailers/manufacturers to help them out.

The rest of us can follow their campaign on their Facebook page.  Good luck from the UK girls!

G-cycling

If you’re stuck wondering what to do with that stockpile of malingering lingerie at the bottom of your bra draw, Breast Talk needs you.

Their Bra Appeal turns your unwanted bras in to cash for Breast Cancer Care by selling them by the kilo to textile companies. They’ve already raised well over £3000, and now Busts 4 Justice want to help them to raise more.

So raid your wardrobes for all of those no-longer fitting or no-longer wanted bras and pop them in the post to Breast Talk. It’s for a good cause, and much better for the environment than just throwing them away… Plus, it’s probably one of the best justifications for buying new underwear we’ve ever heard of.

Strapless Wonder

Yet to find a strapless bra capable of supporting G-unit without mummifying the top half of my body, when the Busts 4 Justice group page started raving about Wonderbra’s Ultimate Strapless I had to check it out.

Wonderbra boast that the Ultimate Strapless passes the ‘stays up test’ for wearing, dancing and jumping, and that the ‘revolutionary new support feels like you’re holding yourself in place’.

They weren’t exaggerating.  The Ultimate Strapless is nothing short of a gravity defying miracle, and while I was disappointed to discover they don’t go up to a G-cup (unlike their other DD+ ranges), a 32F worked excellently as a compromise. The back and side straps sit low for maximum under-dress versatility, and the moulded deep-plunge sweetheart shape makes it more interesting to look at than your average utilitarian strapless number.  Incidentally, that same deep-plunge is responsible for giving you one of the most startling Jessica Rabbit-style mega-cleavages imaginable: I advise caution when wearing around people driving or operating heavy machinery.  Highly recommended.
